An Inspirational Devotion from Still, I Will! Ministries:

John 15:4–5

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Dear Friends,

There are seasons when we feel strong, productive, and confident about where life is going. Then there are seasons when we feel tired, uncertain, or even spiritually dry. Jesus reminds us that in every season, the answer is the same:

Remain in Me.

A branch doesn’t struggle to manufacture fruit. It simply stays connected to the vine. The vine supplies everything the branch needs to grow, flourish, and eventually bear fruit.

Jesus says our spiritual lives work the same way.

Stay Connected to the Source

Sometimes we try to live the Christian life through our own strength. We work harder. We plan more. We try to fix everything ourselves. We may even become so busy doing things for God that we forget the importance of simply being with God.

But Jesus makes something very clear:

“Apart from me you can do nothing.”

That isn’t meant to discourage us. It is an invitation to dependence.

Jesus is saying, You don’t have to produce the strength on your own. Stay connected to Me.

When we remain in Christ through prayer, Scripture, worship, obedience, and daily fellowship with Him, His life begins to flow through ours. His peace steadies us. His wisdom guides us. His strength carries us. And His character begins to show through us.

Fruit Comes From Faithfulness

We often measure our lives by visible results. We want to see progress. We want prayers answered. We want doors opened. We want evidence that what we’re doing matters.

But Jesus doesn’t tell the branch to worry about the fruit. He tells the branch to remain.

There may be seasons when you cannot see much happening. You may wonder whether God is working at all. But roots can be growing even when fruit isn’t visible yet.

Your responsibility is not to control the outcome. Your responsibility is to stay connected to Christ.

Remain when life is good.Remain when life is difficult.Remain when prayers are answered.Remain when you’re still waiting.Remain when you understand.Remain when you don’t.

Because when you remain connected to Jesus, He promises that your life will eventually bear fruit.

Still, I Will Remain

Life will pull us in many directions. Distractions will compete for our attention. Difficulties will test our faith. Success may tempt us to believe we can handle things on our own.

But Jesus continues to invite us back to the Vine.

So today, make this your declaration:

Still, I Will Stay Connected !

I will stay close to Jesus.

I will trust His strength instead of my own.

I will allow His Word to shape my thoughts and His Spirit to guide my steps.

And I will trust Him with the fruit.

Because the most fruitful life isn’t necessarily the busiest life or the most successful life.

It is the life that stays connected to Jesus.

Prayer

Father, thank You for reminding me that I was never meant to live this life in my own strength. Help me remain close to Jesus each day. When I am tempted to depend on myself, draw me back to You. Let Your Word shape my heart, Your Spirit guide my life, and Your strength sustain me. Produce in me the fruit that brings glory to You and allows others to see Jesus through my life. Today I choose to remain in You. Amen.

Reflection:

Take a few quiet minutes today and ask yourself:

Am I trying to produce fruit in my own strength, or am I staying connected to the Vine?

Before you rush into everything you need to accomplish today, spend time simply abiding in Jesus. Pray. Read His Word. Listen.

Then carry this simple declaration with you:

“Jesus, You are the Vine. I am the branch. Still, I will remain.
