Show Me Your Way!

An Inspirational Devotion from Still, I Will! Ministries

Scripture: “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”  Psalm 25:4–5 (NIV)

Dear Friends,

Have you ever found yourself standing at a crossroads, unsure which direction to take? Life often presents decisions that leave us searching for clarity, wisdom, and peace. In those moments, it’s tempting to rely on our own understanding or follow the loudest voices around us. Yet David gives us a better way.

His prayer is simple, humble, and deeply personal: “Show me… teach me… guide me.” David doesn’t begin by asking God to remove every obstacle or reveal every detail of the future. Instead, he asks God to shape his heart so he can faithfully follow wherever the Lord leads.

Notice the progression in David’s prayer. He asks God to show him the way, teach him how to walk in it, and guide him continually in God’s truth. Following God isn’t simply about knowing the right path; it’s about walking closely with the One who knows the destination.

The final phrase is especially powerful: “My hope is in you all day long.” David’s confidence wasn’t rooted in favorable circumstances but in the faithful character of God. Hope anchored in God remains steady, even when life’s road is uncertain.

Throughout my own journey, including facing leukemia, enduring a bone marrow transplant, and walking through seasons filled with more questions than answers, I discovered that God’s guidance often came one step at a time. He didn’t always show me the entire road ahead, but He faithfully illuminated the next step. Looking back, I can see His fingerprints on every part of the journey. His timing was perfect, His presence never failed, and His grace was always sufficient.

Perhaps today you’re praying for direction in your family, your career, your health, or your ministry. Take comfort in knowing that the God who saved you is also committed to leading you. He delights in guiding hearts that are surrendered to Him.

You don’t have to know every answer today. You simply need to trust the One who does.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my faithful Guide. Show me Your ways, teach me Your paths, and lead me in Your truth. Give me a heart that is willing to follow wherever You lead. When I cannot see the road ahead, remind me that Your presence is enough. Today, I place my hope in You and trust that You will direct every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection

When have you seen God faithfully guide you in the past? How might remembering His faithfulness give you confidence to trust Him with the path you’re walking today?

With Unshakable Hope!

Scott
