“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 (NIV)

Dear friends,

Every morning we are given a gift—another day created by the hands of our faithful God. It is easy to look ahead with worry or look behind with regret. We can become consumed by what might happen tomorrow or weighed down by what happened yesterday. But this verse gently calls us back to the present moment, reminding us that this day—right here, right now—is a sacred gift from the Lord.

Notice that Scripture does not say, “This was the day,” or “This will be the day.” It says, “This is the day.” God is already here in it. His mercies are new in it. His grace is sufficient for it. His strength is available in it.

Rejoicing is not dependent on perfect circumstances. It is rooted in the unchanging character of God. Even in seasons of uncertainty, pain, or waiting, we can choose joy—not because life is easy, but because God is faithful. He is present. He is working. He is sustaining you.

Today may hold challenges. It may hold unexpected turns. But it also holds divine appointments, quiet moments of grace, and opportunities to trust Him more deeply. Nothing you face today is beyond His reach.

When we begin the day with gratitude, it shifts our perspective. We move from fear to faith. From anxiety to trust. From striving to resting in His sovereignty.

So today, pause. Take a breath. And remember: this day did not arrive by accident. It was lovingly created by God, and He has given it to you as an opportunity to walk with Him, trust Him, and experience His goodness.

Rejoice in it. Be glad in it. God is already there.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this day. Help me not to take it for granted. Teach me to rejoice, not because everything is perfect, but because You are present. Fill my heart with gratitude, my mind with peace, and my spirit with trust. Help me to walk closely with You today and to recognize Your hand in every moment. This day belongs to You, Lord, and I choose to rejoice in it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Still, I Will rejoice—because this is the day the Lord has made.

With Unshakable Hope,

Scott Folsom
