Still, I Will Praise!

Psalm 30:11–12 (NIV)
“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.”
Dear Friends,
There are seasons when life feels heavy, when prayers sound more like sighs and hope feels thin. David knew that place well. Psalm 30 doesn’t come from a mountaintop moment; it rises out of the valley. It begins with crying… but it ends with dancing.
Isn’t that just like God?
Only He can take what feels like mourning and gently, faithfully, turn it into movement again.
Only He can trade our sackcloth for joy.
Only He can rewrite a story that looked finished in grief and make it overflow with praise.
Notice something beautiful: David doesn’t say “I fixed myself.” He says, “You turned… You removed… You clothed.”
God does the turning.
Sometimes we try to manufacture joy or force strength. But real restoration isn’t self-made it’s God-given. He steps into our sorrow, lifts the weight, and wraps us in joy like a new garment.
And when He does?
Praise becomes inevitable.
Not forced.
Not fake.
Overflow.
Friend, if you’re walking through a hard chapter right now, this isn’t the end of your story. God is still working behind the scenes. Your mourning has an expiration date. Your night has a sunrise scheduled.
Joy is coming.
Dancing is coming.
A new song is coming.
So even before you see it fully, you can declare with confidence:
Still, I will praise.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You are the One who turns sorrow into joy. When my heart feels heavy, remind me that You are still working. Help me trust You in the waiting and praise You in every season. Clothe me with Your joy again, and let my life sing of Your faithfulness. Amen.
Reflection
Where has God already turned mourning into joy in your life before? Take a moment to remember — and thank Him for it today.
With Unshakable Hope!
Scott
