Breaking Points To Breakthroughs

Devotional Blog: “From Breaking Points To Breakthroughs!”

“When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way.” – Psalm 142:3 (NIV)

There comes a time in every life when we hit the wall. The weight feels unbearable. The darkness seems unending. Billy Graham, in his many sermons, often reminded us that our breaking point can become God’s breakthrough point.

When we’ve exhausted our strength, God steps in. He doesn’t abandon us in the storm. He uses it to build faith, shape character, and reveal His glory. Graham once said, “Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys.” It’s in our valleys—in hospital rooms, in financial distress, in quiet moments of despair—that God moves mightily.

God allows us to reach these breaking points so we will stop relying on our own power and instead lean fully into His. The Apostle Paul discovered this truth when he declared:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

When we surrender our struggles, God brings deliverance in ways we could never imagine. Sometimes the breakthrough is a change in circumstances. Other times, it’s a supernatural peace, strength, or new perspective to endure. But always, God is faithful.

If you’re at your breaking point today, don’t give up. Turn to the God who specializes in breakthroughs. Cry out to Him. Trust His timing. And remember:

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” – Psalm 34:17 (NIV)

Even in your darkest hour, He is nearer than you know.

Prayer

Father, I confess my weakness. I’m at the end of myself. Please meet me here and bring the breakthrough only You can provide. Help me trust that even now, You are working for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

With Hope!
